The best B2B SaaS branding agencies in San Francisco are Clay (brand, site and product from one team), Ramotion (a stated focus on B2B, SaaS and startups), Play Studio (software, fintech and AI companies at a new stage) and Manual (identity-led brand work for technical companies). Each lists a San Francisco street address on its own website, which we re-checked on 1 and 2 November 2026.
Most B2B SaaS branding lists are national, and several are written by agencies that rank themselves first. A SaaS brand also has different jobs from a consumer brand: it has to explain a product category, hold up across a website, product UI, sales decks and docs, and survive a buying committee. So this list checks for software clients and product or web capability, not just good-looking logos.
Order follows our criteria 1 to 7, scored from each firm's public site. No firm paid to appear. For the general list, see branding agencies in San Francisco.

What a SaaS brand has to do
A consumer brand mostly has to be noticed and remembered. A B2B SaaS brand has four harder jobs:
- Explain the category. Buyers have to understand what you do in a sentence. That is positioning and messaging, not logo design.
- Work in the product. Colours, type and tone need to survive dashboards, empty states and error messages.
- Scale across sales. Decks, one-pagers, case studies and docs should be easy for your team to make on-brand.
- Persuade a committee. Enterprise buyers include finance, security and IT. The brand has to look credible to all of them.
An agency that only shows logos and posters covers part of job 2 at best.
Capability check
“Listed” means the agency names it on its own site. It is not an audit of quality.
| Agency | Positioning or messaging | Website design | Product UI | Design system |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Clay | Strategy listed | Yes | Yes | Ask |
| Ramotion | Brand strategy, GTM | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Play Studio | Not detailed | Yes | Not detailed | Not detailed |
| Manual | Messaging (Waabi scope) | Content design, with partners | No | No |
| Office | Not detailed | Not listed | No | No |
If you need positioning before visuals, also consider a messaging specialist. Theory SF lists positioning, messaging and category creation, with case studies for Airbase and Backblaze (theorysf.com), but it gives no street address, so it is not ranked here yet.
How to choose a B2B SaaS branding agency in San Francisco
Match the agency to your stage. A seed company needs a clear story and a usable identity, fast. A Series C company moving upmarket needs architecture, a design system and sales enablement. Ask each agency for its smallest and largest recent SaaS client.
Ask how the brand reaches the product. “We’ll hand over guidelines” is not an answer. Ask for an example where the agency’s work shows up in the product UI.
Read the case studies properly. Look for the problem, the agency’s role and what changed. Our portfolio checklist walks through three real San Francisco case studies.
Score the finalists on the same criteria. Use the design agency selection criteria scorecard so the decision is about the work, not the pitch.
What these agencies cost
None of these agencies publishes prices on its own website. The figures below come from their profiles on Clutch, a B2B directory, checked on 2 November 2026. Clutch figures are bands the agency chose when it filled in its profile, not quotes, and Clutch earns money from agency sponsorship. We only use a profile that has client reviews or whose address matches the agency’s own site.
| Agency | Price signal | Basis | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Clay | $50k+ min · $150–$199/hr | Clutch, 32 reviews | profile |
| Ramotion | $50k+ min · $150–$199/hr | Clutch, 29 reviews | profile |
| Play Studio | Not published | No directory profile found | – |
| Manual | Not published | Clutch profile shows no price | – |
| Office | Not published | No directory profile found | – |
Use these as a first filter, not a budget. A minimum project size tells you where an agency starts; most brand, web or product projects at these firms cost several times the minimum. Get a written estimate against the same brief from each finalist. Our guide to design agency selection criteria explains how to compare them.
Firms we are still verifying
- Theory SF: B2B positioning and identity; no street address on its site.
- Born & Bred: lists brand strategy, GTM and web for clients including Discord and Grammarly, and publishes budget bands from $25,000 to more than $200,000 (bornandbredbrand.com, checked 1 Nov 2026). San Francisco is listed with four other cities, with no street address.
Both join the ranking once we confirm a San Francisco office.
Frequently asked questions
What makes a B2B SaaS branding agency different?
It can explain a complex product simply, and it designs a brand that works inside the product and across sales material, not only on a homepage. Look for software clients, messaging or positioning work, and web or product design in the same team.
Should a SaaS company rebrand before or after Series A?
Usually around a clear trigger: a new category story, a move upmarket, or a name that no longer fits. Rebranding without a business reason rarely pays off. See our guide on when to rebrand a startup.
Do these agencies publish prices?
Not on their own sites. On Clutch (checked 2 Nov 2026), Clay and Ramotion both list a $50,000+ minimum project and $150 to $199 an hour. Manual, Play Studio and Office show no price. Ask each for a written estimate against the same brief.
